Great news!!! Curvy Girl Fitness classes will begin on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 at 7 PM. Classes will be held 8 times a month on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Location is 555 Whitehall St SW, Atlanta, GA 30303. Prices are $10/class (drop in rate), $30 for recurring payment of $40 per month (which is 50% off up front) for unlimited classes. Scales Do Not Determine Your Worth...

When I was a teenager, of course like most teens, I had body issues. Most of the females I went to school with had smaller body frames than me. They would talk about how fat they were at 110 lbs and I would look at myself and think, "Dang, I must be obese!". There were times where I wouldn't eat much at night so when I weighed myself in the morning, I would be at my ideal weight, no more than 116 lbs. How crazy is that?!??!!? I can't even imagine myself at 116 lbs right now, lol!

Women have to learn that a scale doesn't determine if you're healthy or not, your heart does. You can be a size 6 with a weak heart= doesn't make you healthy or a size 16 with a strong heart rate and need to trim down the excess fat= healthier than the size 6. Whenever I go to the doctor, they ask if I'm an athlete. This brings a smile to my face because that lets me know I'm doing something right with my body in regards to my health. Some people are surprised to hear that I'm a size 8 in pants and 6/8 in dress size. I have booty and thighs that will probably never go away and I'm at a place where I finally love my body. I don't workout to be skinny, I workout because I want to look good and maintain a healthy body image. I love the confidence I feel when my abs are flat and my thighs are toned. I naturally tone easy and muscle weighs more than fat which is another reason you shouldn't soley depend on a scale. You can look exactly like someone else but weigh more because of your muscle tissue. I embrace my body and you should too. That's what Curvy Girl Fitness is all about ;-)


So don't depend on a scale to determine your happiness for the day. Think about how YOU feel when you look in the mirror and accentuate those parts of your body that are positive. I'm telling you, if you can't love yourself, you can't love anyone else ;-)

Starting Saturday Off Right!!!

Welcome to our new page Curvy Girls. Yes we got a bit of a makeover, I hope you like it ;-) Today was a tough Saturday morning work out. We went hard on the cardio with high knees, split lunge jump, mountain climbers, wall sits and jumping jack planks. I love cardio because it really gets the heart  rate up. My highest heart rate was 166 which is well above my norm!!! We ended up burning almost 600 calories thanks to my new trusty heart rate monitor. It took me a minute to figure out how to work it but I love it and will wear it during each workout. It's around $80 and I got it from Target. I hope you all enjoyed boot camp today and felt a sense of accomplishment with 600 calories burned, I know I did!! We also have Curvy Girl Fitness tank tops for sell. They're $20 each.
